The Institute Library is a membership library in New Haven, Connecticut. Founded in 1826 in the tradition of Mechanics’ Institutes, it is New Haven’s oldest community library and one of the few membership libraries now remaining in North America.
This is an amazing place with amazing people. I love working here, the books, the quietness, and the activities. Like the one that’s going on right now in the first floor (845 Chapel St.). The Nasty Women exhibition, if you’re in or near New Haven, you owe to yourself to check it out. I guarantee that you will not be disappointed.
This place also reminds me of the article posted by Ed, in the Experts Blog @ Rack up Skills. ARE LIBRARIES THE NEW INCUBATORS? Indeed they could be, especially the Institute Library. I’m happy and excited to be working here, come by anytime.
